Happy Thanksgiving from our little family to yours! 🦃 ❤️

I really had no knowledge about this, but this was the boost I needed especially settling back into work post partum. When I had a *blog* I wrote about the moment I met @rpksonrises at RDH Under One Roof in 2018. I read through it and decided to share with you all for a background story with why that photo happened and now this month, it’s a part of the cover for @rdhmag. I realize the last post I made here that’s not an instagram story was the end of 2020. Clearly in 2021 I had other priorities to focus on, like practicing dental hygiene in my new home state, teaching Invisalign fundamentals virtually, getting a new home, and having a new baby. Yes, you read that right *swipe left for pictures*

Today I’m thankful for silver linings, finding opportunities, being able to start new chapters, essential workers, healthcare workers, first responders, the field of dentistry, the dental hygiene community, letting go and letting God, self-awareness, understanding, my family, my dog, the love of my life, and being present.

YES. Dental hygienists are ESSENTIAL. This month with @hygienistsforhumanity, I've been gathering snippets from dental hygienists for Hygienists For Humanity's IG story saying WHY they are ESSENTIAL. The responses were inspiring and motivating. For most of us who've been back to working dental hygiene, we've been feeling a wide range of emotions. Personally, I've been working 6 months into the pandemic and while I'm grateful to work again, I'm feeling slightly burnt out again - taking extra precaution, wearing 6 items of PPE, and continuing my professional responsibilities as a dental hygienist. It's exhausting.

October is NATIONAL DENTAL HYGIENE MONTH. I am truly grateful for the dental hygiene profession. I'm proud of how well we're doing. I'm excited for what the future holds for the dental hygiene profession. It has changed my life and has opened my eyes to the many possibilities in this field, whether it's connecting more with my patients about their oral and systemic health needs or getting to share my knowledge with my fellow hygienists on my own platform. To my dental hygienists out there, let's celebrate and support each other always! *swipe left for hygiene friends and me*
